Moocoo Art

Ben Braithwaite painted a picture for his mum’s birthday present.  After getting many compliments on it, he began Moocoo in 2012 and he has a colorful and fun website now, selling his paintings of various animals, mostly highland cows and dogs.  They are very good and he has a sale on his Moocoo cards right now – 6 cards for 3 pounds or even cheaper if you buy in bulk.

There is a good write-up about Ben and his artwork in the Made In Scotland Magazine.

Self-catering close to Errol

The Courtyard 01

I am pleased to have a guest post from the author of  Gwenhwyfar’s 23 Things … and more.  When she told me about “The Courtyard” and how it worked so well for her and her sister for holidays in Scotland,  I thought it might be a good idea if she could write a review and maybe some other people would want to stay there also.  I had a look on the website and it looks very inviting and I thought the rates were really good.

My sister and I recently spent 10 days in Scotland. Most of the nights were spent at The Courtyard, located just off the A90, roughly halfway betweenPerth and Dundee. The Courtyard offers accommodations in an old stable that has been converted into self-catering suites. Each has a sitting room/kitchen (which is really an armoire with a mini fridge, microwave and sink), a bedroom, and a bathroom. The bathroom has heated floors and towel racks! For a little extra, you can have a full Scottish breakfast each morning. The twin suite (our suite) has a smaller “kitchen” set up – just the mini fridge and a microwave.

It was an ideal location for us. We are country girls and The Courtyard is on a farm; however, it is within sight of the A90 and a couple minutes drive from Errol, so it is not too remote. We had the benefits of the country with civilization easily accessible.
The Lawries are a wonderful family. We met Omy, her husband, and a son and his family. They all made us feel quite welcome and at home. We had some lovely chats. Omy recommended a restaurant that we liked so much we ate there twice. (Rattray’s Bar and Restaurant in Errol).
Should we, hopefully, return to Scotland, The Courtyard is at the top of our accommodations list.
