An update from Julie Fowlis‘s website regarding Julie’s project with BBC ALBA TV. If you missed the episode last week, you can catch the next one this week as it’s a 4-part series and there is a BBC link which has some more information on the program.
“This new 4 Episode, companion Series (to the BBC 1 series ‘Hebrides – Islands on the Edge’) entitled ‘Innsean an Iar – Hebrides’, which starts on Tuesday 4 June at 8.30pm on BBC ALBA TV, will be narrated by Julie, who along with many other Gaelic artists; and under the Musical Directorship of Ingrid Henderson from Lochaber; will be singing songs inspired by the islands, the wildlife, the people and the scenery, etc.
Drawing on the same extraordinary and dramatic filming of the BBC 1 programme, this will be a Series celebrating the link between Gaels and their culture, their environment, the nature around them and how they fit into Gaelic songs.”
I enjoyed this video where she sings “Ged A Sheol Mi Air M’ Aineol” in a casual setting.

I have always been intrigued by Gaelic singers and I recently came across Joy Dunlop, who enjoys singing songs, often traditional, from her native Argyll. She has a lovely cheerful personality with a big smile.
If you’d like to listen to her music, you can have a listen here.
this looks like so much fun … got plans for New Years’ Day?
This band is fantastic. I bought one of their albums in Oban before I headed over to Mull. It became my driving music while navigating the roads of Mull, making my way over to the Iona ferry. Absolutely brilliant. So much fun to drive to their music.
Their website is coming soon but you can also find them on facebook.
And here they are …
